What a week!!!!
This week we were blessed with a little bundle. My niece Emerson was with us all week while Kristian was away on buisness. I'm not quite sure who had a better time..the girls or Emerson. Thankfully Caroline and Kendall were great with her and I know really looked forward to when they could help with the feedings or snag some diapers or pick out outfits for her to wear. This prompted Kendall to ask her Dad for some money so that she could order another sister. (priceless!!!) Anyway, we were sad to see her go on Friday, but I know she was really happy to see her mommy.
Sunday was David mother's side of the family gathering. Every year we have a chinese auction and I must admit the gifts are really good. I must have missed the memo, but there were a lot of knives from steak to santouku to pocket. Kinda scary, but we Quicks came home with a huge wine entertaining basket and an American Express gift card. We were pleased. David's dad was celebrating a birthday and was enjoying his new 46" flat screen TV and making us all really envious.

Bunco Christmas Ornament Exchange
Last night my Bunco group participated in our annual ornament exchange. The hostess, Emily Jordan provided a marvelous spread of fajitas and many goodies to nosh on before and after dinner. As always we never play, but it seems as there is never enough time to catch up. The party started at 7 and we didn't even start the exchange till after 9. I am always excited to see what everyone brought. Some try to thwart off others by wrapping poorly and others go all out arriving with beatuiful packages worthy of magazine covers. Everyone knows what each lady's tree scheme is (as well as their children's trees), so it realy makes shopping for that special ornament even more thrilling when the lucky number opens the package. The ornaments were really beautiful this year, and everyone left satisfied with their loot. Nevertheless, we had a great time (as we always do).

Party with the Quicks
On Thursday night, David and I attended his company's christmas party in Dallas. It's always interesting to go because I get a chance to put lots of names to the faces of David's clients. It's also great because I delight in the many praises about him and his company. What a proud wife I am!! ASG really does put on a festive event and I'm sure that the pics convey that. My inlaws, usually reserved people, danced the night away..so you know it was a great party!!

On this day at 4:37 pm, My brother David entered this world 17 years ago. Many of you reading remember that day. Wasn't that like just yesterday?? At the time I wasn't quite sure what this baby would do to the dynamics of the family(somebody upstaging me) but through the years I have become so thankful that God sent us this blessing. He has put up with not only one, but four mothers. He has seen alot in his day: college, weddings, births, awesome vacations and brothers in law. David has put up with bossy, know it all sisters, never complaining or maybe he had just learned to tune us out. Nevertheless, my brother is a fine example for my girls and I'm proud to call him brother. I can't wait to see what God has in store for him in the coming years!!! Happy birthday D..I love you!!!
So sorry for my long absence. All those events really left me....brain dead. I've been in Pj's for a while, which would explain why we are in our PJ's for our picture!!! Well, I have emerged refreshed and ready for Christmas. I promise to not put so much time between postings as we have lots for you to see in the coming weeks!!!

On Friday( as if I needed to squeeze one more event in) Caroline's school hosted a Sing Along where the students and teachers take part in line dancin and sing a couple of C&W songs. Caroline was picked as a first grade song leader and was so excited.(I was a little bit more) She performed flawlessly and must take after her mother because she didn't want to get off the stage. Mom, Kristian and Emerson came along to see.
After that I was off and running!!!! Friday was set up at the Hilton and we transformed the Ballroom into a sleek, sophisticated lounge worthy of James Bond and his ladies. My apologies for the few pics, I was running like a madwoman until the ball started..coordinating flowers, workers, chaircovers and tablecloths, painting golden girls. A huge thank you to Mom for taking care of my girls, Nola for letting me cover her in gold and David, who humbles me with his patience with me even when he shouldn't be, doesn't remind me that there are no clean clothes or dirty dishes in the sink, or anything in the pantry, and still helps me despite the fact that he dislikes going to Ball. Saturday night, the Ball was a huge success and I must say that my hubby can sure give Bond a run for his money in the tux department as well as cut a rug on the dance floor!!! CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT??? It truly was a fun evening..the food was suprisingly great(for the Hilton)...the Band rocked.(they even played Brass Monkey!!)..and lots of money was raised on behalf of the Junior League to continue their efforts enriching the lives of children in the Bryan-College Station community...thankfully I have a few months to recover till we start planning next year's Ball. Now I'm off to bed!!!!!

Sneak Peek
Tonight the Charity Ball Committee was treated to jewelry night at David Gardner's Jewelers. One of the perks of being on this committee is that we are loaned jewelry to wear to Ball. They close down the shop and we bring our dresses in and we are assigned personal assistants to help in selecting the right pieces. ISN"T THAT FABULOUS??? We can wear anything in the store!!! So here I am in my pieces. Please excuse me as to the fact that this year they made all of us put the dresses on and I was not prepared!!

I promise I will include pictures as these events occur...keep checking to see.......I'll be back!!!!

Sickness looms over the Quick household
this is it!!! I knew all the running around like mad people would finally catch up to us!! David and I have the funk and its not leaving my girls with very nice, patient, fun loving parents that they are used to. Headaches, sore throat, and general yuck have plagued our bodies. But, in our world there is no time for sickness!! There is too much stuff going on right now. We will allow ourselves today and Saturday to rest and get better and we're off again ready for next week. Poor David...Kendall and CAroline desperately wanted to play with him, but all he could muster up was his legs!! Why do we have those expensive toys outside when all they want is a pair of legs to fly in the air????

This is the best place in the world!!!!!
Ok so we eat lunch with David on Fridays. Our meals usually consist of Chick fil A. But while their chicken is oh so good, sometimes it gets really old. (I know there is something addictive in their meat) Case in point this week..... While we are trying to figure out where to go, D comes up with the Chicken Oil. For those of you who aren't familiar with this eatablishment it is basically the Chicken(northgate bar) without the smoke and bar. The owners were good friends of the in-laws and so there are little trinkets of David and his sister Tiffany around on the shelves.(although D says his is the big alligator gar mounted on the firplace) Anyway there is old memorabilia everywhere and the guests carve their names on the tables. So you can imagine what this place looks like to a little one. While we waited for our food, we played I spy which is pretty fun in a place like this and Kendall got to drink Root Beer out of a bottle. It looked too funny and for fear of somebody taking my image and using it, I didnt include it. In all she loved the place and I'm sure when we ask her where she wants to eat, she'll consider this. After all, she did say it was the best place in the world.I wish the owner was still alive to see her. I'm sure he would have gotten a big kick out of her...

My other nephew
She did it!!!!!
Here is proud Papa with Emerson and ner newly pierced ears. Isn't she just precious??? Just when I think I cant stand the fact that I don't know how much she's changed, my sister sends me just a little bit of eye candy to hold me over till I get to see her again. Don't you just love the internet?? Each day I am so thankful for all the computer nerds of the world who make my world a much better place. (that includes you my sweet). I can talk to friends around the world, peruse endless evening gowns, find out the latest gossip, all in my pj's and without leaving home. So was not meant for the days of Little House on the Prairie or the Renaissance(although it could be fun to pose for paintings).
Anyway, today I encourage you to go outside, take pictures of yourself and loved ones and send them to people who would love a little eye candy and make their day!!!! It worked for me!

It all started with a pedicure.......
Thursdays are usually a time for me to indulge in my inner diva. Bunga (my mother in law) picks up my girls for fun and I'm free the whole afternoon!! This has been a weekly gift since Caroline was born. So what's a girl to do without kids or husband to care for????? Carrie, my partner in crime, met me for pedicures and we relished the time spent in the massaging chairs. Our feet were looking good and of course a pedi shouldn't go to waste at home so we mosied on to On The Border where we were joined by partner in crime#2 Hannah. Most of you reading this know this girl because she does your hair, but did you know that if she cuts your hair a certain number of times she'll come hang out with you too??? Okay that part's not true, but wouldn't that be funny?? Anyway this is a picture of the three of us......we had a good time...some more than others!!!!!

What a great weekend!!!
This weekend my childhood friends(who some I haven't seen in ten years) got together for the weekend. Our parents grew up together and became friends and their kids became our friends. They begun a legacy that I hope our kids continue. I must admit...IT WAS AWESOME!!! We laughed, reminisced about old times, sang and basically picked up where we left off. It was like being at church camp only the accomodations were outstanding. ( we stayed at a hunting lodge) I took my camera with the hopes of sharing my friends with all of you, but all I managed to get were pictures with some of our kids. How did that happen??? I can't thank each of you enough for the great time we had. On the way home Kristian and I were talking about how lucky we are to have so many friends near and far that can come together and it's like we're back in time. I'll miss the jokes and the stories, the Joneses sweet voices, the hugs and long for the time when we can be together again next year. I love each and every one of you and I'm so glad I got to see you!!!! Douglasses.....BE READY......

And they call this work?????
Ok so David has been in San Antonio for work attending the Valero Open and he arrived home today proudly displaying this picture. At first all I saw was Tiger Woods and his Coach.. and upon closer inspection..... it's David!!!..giving him pointers!!!! So much for thinking David was working hard..bringing home the bacon..making us proud. He's busy playing computer games in the Buick tent. Oh well...ya think he had fun???
p.s. Tiger was not at the Open.

Is she mine or what?????
Picture Day!!! Today is the dreaded day where I beg Caroline to please stay off the jungle gym and no running so that her pictures come out and we have no suprises when the pictures come back. Everyday when I pick her up from school she looks like she came through a wind tunnel. (Not the way I send her) Anyway as we were working on her hair today, we were going over dos and don'ts and she said that something was missing from her outfit..She disappeared and returned with her pearls on and a smile from ear to ear. "Now I'm ready" she said "She simply could not go and take a picture without her pearls" I try not to laugh because I know where she got that from.....Me!!!.. and if her father was home to hear that, I know he would have confirmed my suspicions. I was up at the school today working, and I caught a glimpse of my girl. She looked exactly as I had left her this morning..with her pearls displayed and her hair perfectly intact..I'll have to thank her teacher for turning the windtunnel off today.....

Mom vs Caroline
This is it!!! I knew there would come a day...a day that what mom thinks is cool, just isn't. Picking out clothes in the morning has become the new battle. While all my friends were having the same struggles, I was relishing the the thought that my kid liked the clothes I picked out. Not so fast Nichole Quick!! I must accept defeat with dignity that my child outlasted most, but it is with a heavy heart that I must admit that my baby is no longer a baby anymore. She is a fashionista in training and I hope that I will give her the opportunity to let Caroline be Caroline.

I'm the luckiest girl in the world!!!!
I just love my birthday!!! My awesome father and I are a few days apart in birthdays and my family always combines them into a big weekend. Well, this weekend was no exception. We had the Daniel girls over for a first ever slumber party in which my sister Nola treated the girls to hair and nails at "Nola Lu's". WE had a ball and the girls were out by 11!!!(sorry Carrie!!) Dad woke up early and I'm sure bought out Shipley's because doughnuts were a plenty on the dining table. Saturday was Dad's birthday and was treated to a round of golf with David and my brother in law, Tim. I think they had fun, Dad and David went back the next day. The ladies of course hung out at home and caught up on sleep and the latest movies out on video....It's like we were back home again. I just love these moments and hope that my girls can have these with each other too. Sunday, David bought me stone for my front yard( the diamonds will come later!!) and my parents helped out, but I must say that Mom and I are much better foremans than laborers. The boys made a much prettier and sturdier wall than we could. (Once the front is completed, I'll include pics.) Well, we ended the weekend with a wonderful cake by my sweet neighbor, Tiffany. She is totally blessed with creativity and a enormous heart. How lucky I am to be surrounded with so much love in my life. Cheetah print cake..does that say Nichole or what??
Each family member and friend is a special birthday gift in my heart and I cherish EACH and EVERY one of you!!! For those far away and near, just a little snippet into the Quick household so that we can always remain close...we can pick up where we left off!!! I love you...
